What Is Oregon APEM?

The Oregon Association of Professional Energy Managers was founded in 1982 as a partnership of business, government and utilities. Oregon APEM seeks to advance the understanding and practice of efficient energy use through forums, newsletters, facility tours, and face-to-face dialogue. Oregon APEM provides a forum for energy and resource management professionals in Oregon and Southwest Washington to share information and to grow professionally. In 2006 Oregon APEM incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Oregon APEM members have a variety of job titles and come from a broad diversity of backgrounds. This diversity enlarges the scope of professional level information disseminated among the members. Oregon APEM members and their communities benefit from informed input into the design of utility programs, government legislation, and efficient business operations.

"The True Cost of No Cost and Low
Cost Efficiency Measures"

Where:   Northwest Natural Meeting Room, 4th Floor, One Pacific Square, 220 NW 2nd Ave.  Portland, OR

Why:   The Oregon APEM Summer Forum will address the hidden costs necessary to get all those so called no-cost and low-cost energy efficiency measures. We’ve all heard, “there’s no such thing as a free lunch.” We’ll feature presentations of successful case studies for energy tracking, behavior, and policy programs. In addition to the presentations, we plan to debut a new networking opportunity over the lunch hour. The goal is that each participant will walk away with the sense of immediate action to improve their facilities.

Award Opportunity! Minimize

Applications for the Student Project of the Year Award are now available. This award is Oregon APEM’s way of honoring students who are doing extraordinary academic work in the field of Energy Management. All winners will be given the opportunity to present their projects during the summer forum where the awards will be presented.
Up to three awards will be given this year, one for each of the following categories:

  • School/Class: Projects done as part of a class or for college credit.
  • Internship: Projects a student participated on while interning in the Energy industry.
  • Independent: Energy projects not receiving college credit (i.e. hobbies, club projects)

All Oregon APEM student members are eligible.
Individual or group projects are welcome.
Projects need to have been completed within the last three years.
Students - this is a wonderful opportunity for you to be recognized for all your hard work as well as to gain exposure in the professional world. Please fill out an application and send it to board@oregonapem.com with any required supplemental documentation attached.
Application deadline is May 5, 2012.

Opportunity!


The Oregon Department of Energy has released an application for and information about tax credits for small energy conservation projects. Under the new Conservation Energy Incentive Program, Small Premium Projects must have qualified costs of less than $20,000 and meet certain requirements. Approximately $1.7 million in tax credits are available for these projects on a first-come, first-serve basis. The maximum tax credit per project is $7,000. The filing deadline is Dec. 31, 2012. The application, along with other information in this opportunity announcement, can be found on the ODOE website at: http://www.oregon.gov/ENERGY/BUSINESS/Incentives/SPP-OA.shtml. There is a $60 application fee.
